The Circuit Rider Ministry at Preston Christian Church is a dedicated, collaborative service, in the spirit of the historic frontier preachers but adapted for the needs of today’s churches.
A Brotherhood of Service
This ministry is driven by a love for Christ and His Church in all of its local manifestations. The men are not career Pastors, but they have a call rooted in genuine faith and a deep commitment Bible preaching. The ministry is a team-based approach: capable men work together on a core set of ready-to-deliver messages, focused on fundamental Christian truths and designed for immediate presentation wherever they are called. This preparedness ensures that a powerful, relevant message is always at hand, regardless of which individual “circuit rider” is presiding.
Bridging Denominational Divides
A core value of the Circuit Riders is to craft a relevant message across denominations. The sermons intentionally focus on the central, unifying truths of the Christian faith—the deity of Christ, the power of the resurrection, the need for grace, and the call to discipleship. They emphasize what all believers share. This focus allows them to be warmly welcomed in a variety of church settings, across the countryside, serving as a unifying voice rather than a divisive one.
Fostering the Larger Body of Christ
Ultimately, the Circuit Rider Ministry seeks to foster fellowship in Christ’s larger body. Their mission extends beyond simply delivering a sermon; it’s about connecting with people, sharing meals, praying together, and modeling unity. They often visit congregations that may be geographically isolated or experiencing a leadership transition, not to recruit members, but to offer encouragement, spiritual support, and practical help. By serving as bridges between different Christian communities, they help participants see themselves as part of the broader Kingdom of God, strengthening the bonds of love and cooperation among all who call upon the name of the Lord.
